HeartSick by Chelsea Cain

“A Living Nightmare.

Portland detective Archie Sheridan spent years tracking Gretchen Lowell, a beautiful and brutal serial killer. In the end, she was the one who caught him…and tortured him…and then let him go. Why did Gretchen spare Archie’s life and then turn herself in? This is the question that keeps him up all night – and the reason why he has visited Gretchen in prison every week since.

A Deadly Obsession…

Meanwhile, another series of Portland murders has Archie working on a brand-new tack force…and heading straight into the line of fire. The local news is covering the case 24/7, and it’s not long before Archie enters a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with the killer – and his former captor. But this time, it’s up to Archie to save himself…” (from the back cover)

This is a very twisted and violent thriller. I absolutely loved it!! It is very graphic at times, so if you don’t like that kind of story, you will probably want to skip over this one! It’s an edge of your seat thrill-ride that keeps you guessing. I can’t wait for the next book in this series, Sweetheart, due out 9/2/08. Definitely a must-read if you like thrillers!!

Spanish Disco by Erica Orloff

This book sat on my TBR shelf for years (literally!). I can’t believe it took me so long to get to this book! I thoroughly enjoyed it – very fast, chick-lit read and a great addition to the Red Dress Ink series. Here’s a snyopsis:

“For thirty-three-year-old Cassie Hayes, life is about to get messier. She can’t cook, unless you count coffee as a meal (she does). She can’t commit (just ask her ex-husband). She drinks too much (tequila for breakfast). Of course, she has guided her share of authors to the bestseller list for the literary publishing house where she works (when she makes it to the office). And now she must coax a sequel out of a Pulitzer Prize-winning author-turned-recluse. Moving in with the recluse is one thing, but teaching him the hustle so he can win the heart of his Spanish housekeeper is way beyond the call of duty.

Cassie slowly unravels, with no coffeehouses, no bagels and nothing but sand for nightlife. On top of that, she’s having phone sex with her favorite author, the mysterious, London-based Michael Pearton, who has suddenly decided to ruin their perfect affair by insisting that after five years they meet in person. Add a tabloid reported who is after the literary story of a lifetime, and Cassie’s dance card is full.” (from the back cover)

I highly recommend it if you love chick-lit!
