On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan

“In 1962, Florence and Edward celebrate their wedding in a hotel on the Dorset coast. Yet as they dine, the expectation of their marital duties weighs over them. And unbeknownst to both, the decisions they make this night will resonate throughout their lives.”

The premise of this book is what drew me in, but I was left very disappointed. I felt that the author was not at all sympathetic to the female character. The ending was abrupt (and didn’t even mention the female lead character!). Don’t waste your time on this one. 1/5
