I’ve decided to join the 2010 Blog Improvement Project! I’m so excited to exchange ideas with other bloggers and make our blogs even greater than they already are!!
The Week 1 task has been posted!
Week 1: Create a Blogging To-Do List
I’ve been mulling over some things I’d like to do to make my blog more user-friendly. Specifically, I would like to:
REVIEWS:
Be able to search my reviews by author name, my star rating, and/or book title (maybe a drop-down menu?)
TAGGING:
Tag all reviews with author name
Tag all reviews with book genre
Tag all reviews with star rating
NAVIGATION:
Create a menu bar to navigate the blog easier (include links to: About Me, Reviews, Giveaways, others?)
I love Fiction Vixen’s!
I also like Undercover Book Lover’s navigation bar with the RSS buttons at the top; and the search box integrated into the header.
I like how Lost for Words has the navigation titles “light up” when the mouse scrolls over them; I also love the rounded sidebar boxes
SOCIAL MEDIA:
Integrate Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, others?)
Add an RSS subscription link
CONTENT:
Content other than reviews and memes – still thinking about this!
COMMENTING:
Commenting – more integration and conversation with my readers, i.e. commenting on comments
DESIGN:
Finalize new design with designer (so excited!!).
I really like the layout of Fiction Vixen with the 3 columns, but the main post column being first, with the other 2 sidebars next to that.
Since YOU are the readers, is there anything you can think of that would make my blog more appealing or reader-friendly? Is there any specific content you would like to see (or see more of?)? Is there anything here that you DON’T like?? Please be honest – I can take it! LOL It’s the only way to get better!!
I’m sure this post will be updated constantly as I think of more things! I’ll be reviewing other blogs and adding links here so you can view sites that I like (there are so many!).
Thanks for reading and visiting me today!!

I think I need to do this too. You are the second person in a row on my google reader who posted this, haha. But I told her that I’m going all out on making it to the book blog con but haven’t really been paying a whole lot of attention to my actual blog lately, hehe! I think what I like seeing in other people’s blogs is something a little more personal. Obviously, I like when they focus more on books/reading, but some kind of posts, etc. to where I feel like I know the person more and can easily differentiate who they are from another blogger. (Obviously I know yours from the others, but this is just what I think in general). I’m going to try to do that more on my blog. And as for design… I’ve been waiting on my *designer* husband forever to design mine and I don’t think he’s even started yet!!! I’m not the nagging type of wife, but when it comes to this I have been, lol.
I'm really impressed that you are having a designer on your blog! I look forward to seeing what they come up with!I hope that you enjoy taking part in BIP and manage to achieve all your goals.
