Synopsis:
The most personal
A young mother and her infant child are ruthlessly gunned down while returning to their car in the garage of a shopping mall. There are no witnesses, and Detective Lindsay Boxer is left with only one shred of evidence: a cryptic message scrawled across the windshield in bloodred lipstick.
The most dangerous
The same night, the wife of A-list actor Marcus Dowling is woken by a cat burglar who is about to steal millions of dollars’ worth of precious jewels. In just seconds there is a nearly empty safe, a lifeless body, and another mystery that throws San Francisco into hysteria.
The most exciting Women’s Murder Club novel ever
Lindsay spends every waking hour working with her partner, Rich–and her desire for him threatens to tear apart both her engagement and the Women’s Murder Club. Before Lindsay and her friends can piece together either case, one of the killers forces Lindsay to put her own life on the line–but is it enough to save the city? With unparalleled danger and explosive action, The 9th Judgment is James Patterson at his compelling, unstoppable best!
My Thoughts:
The 9th installment of the popular Women’s Murder Club series focuses on two cases. In the first one, Lindsay is investigating a string of burglaries in San Francisco’s high society. The burglar, known in the media as “Hello Kitty:, is a person so brazen that they break into homes during dinner parties and rob the occupants of their most precious gems. But, something goes wrong at one of the jobs and a famous star ends up dead. Lindsay tries to unravel all the clues and get to the truth. But what is really the truth? I especially loved the jewel thief storyline and how it came together. Patterson actually made me feel for the “bad guy” in this instance. I loved how this story wrapped up!!
The second case is quite gruesome and hard to swallow. Someone is killing mothers and their children and leaving a sickening signature behind. Is there a serial killer loose in San Francisco, hunting distracted mothers and children? The Women’s Murder Club is on the case and will stop at nothing to protect their citizens. It was really hard reading some of these scenes because of the subject matter, but thankfully the chapters are so short that it didn’t last too long!
Regardless of the debate about Patterson’s throng of co-writers, I remain a loyal fan of his. I’ve been reading his books for many years and I was thrilled to receive an ARC of the latest WMC book. There were many on-the-edge-of-your-seat moments in this book, which is what I love most about these novels. I read this book in one day! It moves very quickly and I was completely engrossed in the story. There was quite a twist at the end of the story and I was stunned right along with Lindsay. I was quite satisfied with how the story concluded and I am eagerly anticipating the next book in this wonderful series!
This book will be out on April 26, so reserve your copy today!

I love James Patterson books
I'm really looking forward to this one. The last few Women's Murder Club novels have been hit or miss for me (and I really didn't care for the 8th one). I'm glad to hear you liked it, and I'm jealous you got an ARC!
My DIL really likes this series and has been trying to get me to read it. I really like my mysteries more 'cozy'. Too much gore or vivid details aren't appealing to me–I think I must have an overly-sensitive nature! LOL

Great review! I love this series! It feels like forever since I read the last installment. I can’t wait
I admit I’m secretly rooting for Rich and can’t wait to see what happens with the love triangle Lindsay has herself in.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. After not liking the 8th book, I was ready to give up on this series. But I think I've invested too much time to stop now.–AnnaDiary of an Eccentric
