Mockingjay is the third, and final, installment of the popular Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. I started the series with hesitation, but quickly became as addicted as everyone else. Katniss, the lead female character, is a strong young girl, and a role model for any young woman to aspire to. She doesn’t let any boy get her down! I really enjoyed reading about Katniss’s adventures throughout all three books and experiencing her journey from a young girl into a young woman. It was refreshing to find such a strong young female character in a series of books.
I loved the first two books in the series, Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I did not love Mockingjay as much. I still enjoyed the story, but there were some parts that just left me wondering – that didn’t seem to be entirely cleared up in my mind. Don’t worry – this is a spoiler-free zone, so if you want to chat about it, please feel free to e-mail me and we can discuss. So, I was left with some slight disappointment at the resolution of parts of the storyline.
But, man does Suzanne Collins know how to tell a story! There were so many twists and turns in this book, I didn’t know what to expect! I was shocked, stunned, and left breathless at almost every chapter! I kept screaming “Nooooooo!!!!!” Then “Yessssss!!!!!!” Ms. Collins just takes the reader on a whirlwind of emotions, of highs and lows, and leaves you gasping and shaking your head in utter disbelief and amazement. And the way she can so intricately weave together so many different elements so seamlessly – stunning! She is an amazing writer and I truly cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
This is a great book with just a few minor quibbles about how some of the storylines were resolved. I’d definitely recommend this entire series to anyone. I loved it! It is CRAZY FABULOUS!

You are exactly spot on! (and thanks for the spoiler-free review; I hate spoilers in reviews, especially of books that I hadn't read yet!) I did not like Mockingjay as much as the first two, and after I had already posted my review, and had a chance to dwell on my thoughts even more, I too thought that there were a few unresolved spots, and was a bit let down at what I felt as a weaker ending. I wouldn't be surprised to see a spin-off featuring Gayle …
I LOVE this series!!!! I kept hearing a lot of buzz about the Hunger Games books, and anytime I hear a lot of talk about a book, of course I have to read it!!! Can't wait for the movie, although it's hard to imagine it will be as good as the books. Shockingly, my 13 year old daughter read the first two books in this series this summer, and she hates to read! I've got to hurry and buy Mockingjay before she loses interest!
