New Release Spotlight: What My Best Friend Did by Lucy Dawson (11/30)

So, I was trolling through the Goodreads Giveaways section and stumbled upon this book that captured my attention immediately!  I know…I know… I need another book like I need a hole in the head, but IJUSTCAN’TSTOPMYSELF!!  I mean, doesn’t this brief blurb just suck you right in?!?!

“A smart, chilling look at women’s lives in the tradition of Single White Female..”

Single White Female

Have you SEEN Single White Female?!?!  Cuh-razy with a capital “C”!  Actually, it has been a long time since I’ve seen it.  I think I need to put it in the Netflix queue.  Anyway, you know here at Crazy-for-Books, I am all about crazy!  So, umm.. yeah – I’m sooooo excited to get my hands on this book!

And, to my surprise, the book is out today!

 SCORE!

Here’s a snippet from Goodreads to whet your appetite!

What My Best Friend Did: A Novel
What My Best Friend Did:  A Novel
Author:  Lucy Dawson
Publication Date: November 30, 2010
Publisher:  Avon

From Lucy Dawson, author of His Other Lover, comes a smart and chilling look at the shadowy side of friendship.

For Alice, life’s a bit too boringly grown-up lately—weekends at weddings and baby showers; celebrating friends’ transitions to a life she isn’t quite up for yet; and a sweet, stable boyfriend she suspects she’s outgrown. So when she meets Gretchen for the first time, it feels a bit like falling in love. Gretchen, with her air of impulsiveness and intuitive style, is that rarest of treasures: a true friend who knows how to have fun. Plus there’s Gretchen’s gorgeous brother, Bailey, who might turn out to be exactly what Alice needs. Before she knows what’s hit her, Alice’s brilliant new best friend is turning her world upside down—seemingly for the better.

But Gretchen has a dark secret, which, like a time bomb, won’t stay hidden forever. The explosion may teach them both more than they ever wanted to know about how female friendships can go frighteningly wrong.

Sounds CRAZY, right?!  I wonder what the dark secret is??!!  And the cover is kinda creepy too, with the wisp of hair masking the girl’s face…  Ooooh, I can’t wait to read this one!

Are there any books out today that have captured YOUR attention?  If so, tell me about them!

Book Blogger Hop
Grab the Logo!

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word!  This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books!  It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!  So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!

The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week, so if you don’t have time to Hop today, come back later and join the fun!  This is a weekly event!  And stop back throughout the weekend to see all the new blogs that are added!  We get over 200 links every week!!

RULES:

Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.

1.  Enter your book blog link in the Linky List below
In your link, please state the main genre that you review:  eclectic, contemp. fiction, ya, paranormal, mystery, non-fiction, etc.

Please do not list every genre you review – if you are review a variety, please put eclectic!  The Hop gets jumbled up if the title is too long, so please limit to one genre.  I will be limiting the number of characters in the title to ensure the Hop doesn’t look messy!  Thank you!

Example:  Crazy-for-Books (eclectic adult fiction)

2. Post about the Hop on your blog.  Spread the word about the book party!  The more the merrier!  In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!).

If you have a suggestion for a future HOP question, click here to fill out the form!  Thanks!

This week’s question comes from Sarah who blogs at Writer, Reader, Dreamer:

”What is your favorite book cover?”

My answer:  There is one cover that I’ve seen recently that really stands out to me.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to read the book – and I didn’t even know what the book was about!

So Happy TogetherThere is just something about the holding of hands with the water and the lighthouse that takes me to my favorite place on earth – the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  I am so at peace when I’m there and this cover just transports me whenever I look at it.  I just think the colors are gorgeous, too!  This is one of my favorite book covers!

3.  Visit other blogs in the Linky List!  Make new friends!  Follow new book bloggers!  Talk about books!  Rave about authors!  Take the time to make a quality visit!  Check out other posts and content, make a new friend!  Don’t randomly follow someone if you never intend on actually following them!  No spamming please!  (Please do not leave your link and not visit other blogs – it’s just not cool and not in the spirit of the Hop!)

And just as an FYI – this event is not something you should feel that you have to participate in every week.  If you want to join in and link up once a month, GREAT!  It’s up to you how often you participate!

So, have fun HOPPING and enjoy your BOOK PARTY weekend!!!

UPDATE:  THE BOOK BLOGGER HOP DOES NOT ACCEPT TWITTER LINKS!  IF YOU LEAVE A TWITTER LINK, IT WILL BE DELETED!!!  PLEASE ADHERE TO THE RULES, PLEASE!  ONLY YOUR BLOG URL IS ACCEPTED!  THANK YOU!
