Book Blogger Hop 11/12-11/15 & Challenge Results!

So, last week I challenged you with the very first Book Blogger Hop challenge! I asked you to find ONE new-to-you blogger in the list of Hop participants to follow and comment on five different posts!  Did you do it?  What did you think of this challenge?  Here were my results:

Book Blogger Hop Challenge Results

Who I Followed:
Julie at Book Hooked Blog

Why I Followed:
Julie and I appear to have very similar taste in books.  She has reviewed a lot of books that I have in my TBR pile.  Her reviews are honest and balance the entertainment aspect of the novel with the actual writing quality.  I have really enjoyed reading Julie’s blog this week and I look forward to reading a lot more in the future!  From what I’ve read so far, she’s a pretty cool chick, so go check her out!

Posts I Commented On:
Book Review: You Don’t Look Like Anyone I Know
Book Review: Saving Max
Book Review: Falling Home
Book Review: Hunger by Jackie Morse Kessler
Book Review: Everything Is Going To Be Great
Book Review: Girl, Stolen
Book Reviews: Crank, Glass, and Fallout (and a rant on BBW)

 Overall Result:
I may be a bit biased, but I loved this challenge!  Sometimes it is hard when you are Hopping around to actually stop and read about the person who is actually writing the blog.  To find out a little more about him/her and what he/she likes.  For example, from visiting Julie’s blog, I discovered that she has a Nook e-reader (like me!), she has dogs (like me!), and she goes to church (like me!).  It’s amazing the things you can discover about a fellow blogger if you just spend some time with her, reading her posts!  I think the Hop should be more like this!

Here is a Quick Update about the Genre Specific Hops:
There will not be specific Hops on this blog for different genres.  It will just be too much work for me and I can’t fill up my blog with Hop post after Hop post.  BUT, I have come up with a fabulous alternative idea that is in the works!!  I don’t have a definite timeline for when it will be rolled out, though.  The plan is to have my own group linky developed that can group different genres together in the same linky list, but Brent from LinkyTools is very busy and he will be working on it for us in the near future!  I just ask for your patience!  This should be a pretty awesome Linky Tool once it is complete!

Now onto this week’s Hop!

Book Blogger Hop
Grab the Logo!

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word!  This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books!  It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!  So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!
The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week, so if you don’t have time to Hop today, come back later and join the fun!  This is a weekly event!  And stop back throughout the weekend to see all the new blogs that are added!  We get over 200 links every week!!

RULES:

Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.

1.  Enter your book blog link in the Linky List below
In your link, please state the main genre that you review:  eclectic, contemp. fiction, ya, paranormal, mystery, non-fiction, etc.

Please do not list every genre you review – if you are review a variety, please put eclectic!  The Hop gets jumbled up if the title is too long, so please limit to one genre.  I will be limiting the number of characters in the title to ensure the Hop doesn’t look messy!  Thank you!

Example:  Crazy-for-Books (eclectic adult fiction)

NOTE:   You no longer have to enter the length of time you’ve been blogging, but do let us know if this is your first time hopping with us!

2. Post about the Hop on your blog.  Spread the word about the book party!  The more the merrier!  In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each w
eek!).  If you have a suggestion for a future HOP question,
click here to fill out the form!  Thanks!

This week’s question comes from Christina who blogs at The Paperback Princesses:
“If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?”

My answer:  Yes.  Always.  In my review policy, I even state that I will not read series books out of order.  I am VERY anal like that.  If I discover that I have received a review book that is 2nd in a series, I have to go get book 1 from the library and read it first before I can read the review book.  I feel like I am missing important events and backstory if I don’t read the books in order!
3.  Visit other blogs in the Linky List!  Make new friends!  Follow new book bloggers!  Talk about books!  Rave about authors!  Take the time to make a quality visit!  Check out other posts and content, make a new friend!  Don’t randomly follow someone if you never intend on actually following them!  No spamming please!  (Please do not leave your link and not visit other blogs – it’s just not cool and not in the spirit of the Hop!)

And just as an FYI – this event is not something you should feel that you have to participate in every week.  If you want to join in and link up once a month, GREAT!  It’s up to you how often you participate!
So, have fun HOPPING and enjoy your BOOK PARTY weekend!!!

UPDATE:  THE BOOK BLOGGER HOP DOES NOT ACCEPT TWITTER LINKS!  IF YOU LEAVE A TWITTER LINK, IT WILL BE DELETED!!!  PLEASE ADHERE TO THE RULES, PLEASE!  ONLY YOUR BLOG URL IS ACCEPTED!  THANK YOU!

Til next time, stay crazy….for books, that is!
