Book Blogger Hop: December 3-6, 2010

Crazy-for-Books is sporting a new holiday look and a new 2 column layout! Thanks to the ever-fabulous Louise from Adori Graphics for spiffing up my header for the holidays! It’s totally crazy and totally ME! What do you think?!

Book Blogger Hop
Grab the Logo!

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word!  This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books!  It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!  So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!

The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week, so if you don’t have time to Hop today, come back later and join the fun!  This is a weekly event!  And stop back throughout the weekend to see all the new blogs that are added!  We get over 200 links every week!!

RULES:

Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.

1.  Enter your book blog link in the Linky List below
In your link, please state the main genre that you review:  eclectic, contemp. fiction, ya, paranormal, mystery, non-fiction, etc.
Please do not list every genre you review – if you are review a variety, please put eclectic!  The Hop gets jumbled up if the title is too long, so please limit to one genre.  I will be limiting the number of characters in the title to ensure the Hop doesn’t look messy!  Thank you!
Example:  Crazy-for-Books (eclectic adult fiction)
2. Post about the Hop on your blog.  Spread the word about the book party!  The more the merrier!  In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!).

If you have a suggestion for a future HOP question, click here to fill out the form!  Thanks!

This week’s question comes from Marce who blogs at Tea Time With Marce:

”What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?”
My answer: I actually cannot think of any hyped books that I haven’t enjoyed recently. I tend to NOT read the hyped books until after the “popular”ness has settled down because I don’t want it to skew my opinion of the book. Even though I can’t really answer the question appropriately, I thought it was a great question and am curious to read the responses!
As far as the second half of the question, even if I didn’t like a specific “popular” book, I would still post my honest opinion and explain what I didn’t like about it. That’s what makes blogs fun to read – we all have different opinions about the books we read and what I might love about a book another person may hate! I don’t fear any negative feedback about posting my honest opinion. After all, it is MY opinion and I’m entitled to it, right?! :)

3.  Visit other blogs in the Linky List!  Make new friends!  Follow new book bloggers!  Talk about books!  Rave about authors!  Take the time to make a quality visit!  Check out other posts and content, make a new friend!  Don’t randomly follow someone if you never intend on actually following them!  No spamming please!  (Please do not leave your link and not visit other blogs – it’s just not cool and not in the spirit of the Hop!)

And just as an FYI – this event is not something you should feel that you have to participate in every week.  If you want to join in and link up once a month, GREAT!  It’s up to you how often you participate!

So, have fun HOPPING and enjoy your BOOK PARTY weekend!!!

UPDATE:  THE BOOK BLOGGER HOP DOES NOT ACCEPT TWITTER LINKS!  IF YOU LEAVE A TWITTER LINK, IT WILL BE DELETED!!!  PLEASE ADHERE TO THE RULES, PLEASE!  ONLY YOUR BLOG URL IS ACCEPTED!  THANK YOU!

Happy Friday!! This is a really great question and every blogger will face at some point. For me, it was "Wings" and it took me more time to write this review than another one. But, the responses were great even from the ones that loved the book. Plus, I linked to a really good Review ;) )

Jennifer, you must choose better than I do for myself. I am always honest in my reviews, I thought I would be attacked by bloggers but I wasn't.Thanks for allowing me to be a part with the question selection. Have a great weekend.

Im so with you on the waiting…..I try to wait awhile to post the 500th review on a popular book…or just read it and not do a review. I still have Fire by K. Cashore to read and Linger by Maggie Stiefvater, hopefully Ill get to those soon.

Jennifer, I love your new header and mentioned it in my post. It is too cute for words!Thank you for hosting this meme each week. I feel quite the same way about this week's question, although my answer is a bit different from yours. :)

I see that Disqus looks to be acting up on your blog too! Urgh! So frustrating! But anyway, like you, I will write my honest opinion, even if I make certain it's a mixed review. If I absolutely HATE a book, I HAD made a promise to myself to finish every review book. For the New Year, my resolution will be not to go beyond 100 pages; if I absolutely hate a book, that hour and a half is wasted, but I won't waste any more time on it. There are too many GOOD books waiting to be read!

You are definitely entitled to your opinion and I really love that you adamant about that. I'm learning to be adamant about my opinion because I'll often back down if I'm challenged enough, unless it's about my religious beliefs.
