If you have a suggestion for a future HOP question, click here to fill out the form!  Thanks!

”Since today is April Fool’s Day in the USA, what is the best prank you have ever played on someone OR that someone has played on you?”

My answer:  To be honest, I can’t really answer my own question!  I can’t recall any pranks played on me or that I played on anyone, although I’m sure there are some!  I’m not much of a prankster!  I can’t wait to read your stories, though!

So, have fun HOPPING and enjoy your BOOK PARTY weekend!!!

UPDATE:  THE BOOK BLOGGER HOP DOES NOT ACCEPT TWITTER LINKS!  IF YOU LEAVE A TWITTER LINK, IT WILL BE DELETED!!!  ONLY YOUR BLOG URL IS ACCEPTED!  THANK YOU!

UPDATE #2: Please do not add “AND A GIVEAWAY” to your blog hop link. I’ve been seeing these a
lot lately and up until now I’ve left them alone. But it’s starting to get a bit out of control and I’m going to have to start deleting them if they continue to appear. The Hop isn’t to advertise your giveaways. It’s a place for us to explore and find new blogs we may be interested in following, not to promote our giveaways. There are several sites out there that have Giveaway Hops, but this is not one of them. Unfortunately if I continue to see the links, I will have to delete them. I hate to start having to “police” the hop, but I want to bring it back to its original state. Thank you for understanding.

Review: Hatteras Girl by Alice J. Wisler

Hatteras Girl

Hatteras Girl
Author: Alice J. Wisler
Publication Date: October 2010
Publisher: Bethany House
Source:  I received a free copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

Hatteras Girl has all the makings of a book that I would love. It takes place in one of my favorite places (Outer Banks, North Carolina), it has a heroine with a dream of owning a bed and breakfast (very cool, especially on the Outer Banks!), and it was marketed to me as Christian Fiction (a genre I am really into right now). So, when I received this book for review, I was beyond excited.

So, upon finishing the book, I have to say I am disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high and I was wanting more from this book that what I got, but I was left feeling a bit ho-hum about this novel.

Right off the bat, the cover and title made me think of this as a young adult book. Once I started reading and digging into the story, I realized very quickly that this is definitely not a YA book. The main protagonist, 29-year-old Jackie Donovan, is a journalist for the local Lighthouse Views magazine, with aspirations of buying the Bailey House, an old bed-and-breakfast that she has admired most of her life. She grew up playing in the Bailey House and has always dreamed of running it someday, but the costs associated with buying it have been a detriment to making her dream come true.

When Jackie meets Davis, a real estate entrepreneur, while interviewing him for an article for the magazine, a spark ignites and a budding romance begins to blossom. She also discovers that he may hold the key to her dream of owning the Bailey House.

But Davis may not be all who he appears to be. Will Jackie’s dream of owning the Bailey House ever become a reality?

There are definitely Christian elements to this book, but I would not put it into the Christian Fiction category. There was no spiritual growth of any character in this book. It is a clean, sweet romance, but if you are looking for a book where the character goes through major spiritual transformation, this is definitely not it.

Overall, I loved the setting and the cast of supporting characters. I wasn’t blown away by the book and I didn’t dislike it either. I would have to give this one a straight down the middle three stars.

Final Rating:

This week’s question comes from Mina who blogs at Mina Burrows:

”If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…which one would it be and why?”

My answer:  I actually have 2 series that I would love to be “in”.

The first is the Booktown Mystery series by Lorna Barrett – I mean who wouldn’t want to be in a fictional book town?  I adore this series and the characters!

Murder Is Binding Bookmarked For Death (Booktown Mystery Series) Bookplate Special (A Booktown Mystery) Chapter & Hearse (A Booktown Mystery) Sentenced to Death (A Booktown Mystery)

Another series I would love to be in, just because I LOVE the characters is the Do-It-Yourself Mysteries by Jennie Bentley:

Fatal Fixer-Upper (A Do-It-Yourself Mystery) Spackled and Spooked (A Do-It-Yourself Mystery) Plaster and Poison (A Do-It-Yourself Mystery) Mortar and Murder (A Do-It-Yourself Mystery)

If you haven’t read either of these cozy mystery series, I highly recommend you check them out!  Great stories and characters!

This week’s question comes from Somer who blogs at A Bird’s Eye Review (her blog design is ADORABLE – check it out!):

”Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?”

My answer:  In the days before my Nook, I would typically only read one book at a time.  Since I’ve acquired an e-reader, I typically have 2 books going at once – one on the e-reader that I can throw in the purse or take to the gym – and one in paper that I read at home.  Right now, I have 3 books going which is CRAZY for me – 1 book on the Nook, 1 book in PDF on my Netbook, and 1 book in paper!
