Book Blogger Hop

Grab the Logo!

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read! So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!

The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week, so if you don’t have time to Hop today, come back later and join the fun! This is a weekly event! And stop back throughout the weekend to see all the new blogs that are added! We get over 200 links every week!!

RULES:

Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.

1. Post about the Hop on your blog (feel free to grab the logo at the top of the post!)

Spread the word about the book party! The more the merrier!

In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!).

This week’s question comes from Sue who blogs at Cookie’s Book Club ! Thanks for submitting a question for our Hoppers, Sue! Be sure to visit her blog and tell her thank you!

What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?

My answer: Check out my vlog for my answer!  Yes, I said vlog.  I have finally done one.  Please don’t make fun of me.  I really despised every moment of it.  I hate pictures and videos of myself.  I’m always told I look like I’m 12, but I swear I’m in my 30s!  LOL!

I need more questions!!! If you have a suggestion for a future HOP question, click here to fill out the form! Thanks!

2. Enter your book blog link in the Linky List below.

In your description, please state the main genre that you review – Example: Crazy-for-Books (contemp. adult fiction)

3. Visit other blogs in the Linky List!

Make new friends! Follow new book bloggers! Talk about books! Rave about authors! Take the time to make a quality visit! Check out other posts and content, make a new friend! Don’t randomly follow someone if you never intend on actually following them! No spamming please! (Please do not leave your link and not visit other blogs – it’s just not cool and not in the spirit of the Hop!)

***Failure to adhere to the above 3 rules may result in removal of your link from the Linky List.***

Have fun HOPPING and enjoy your BOOK PARTY weekend!!!

UPDATE #1: THE BOOK BLOGGER HOP DOES NOT ACCEPT TWITTER LINKS!

UPDATE #2: Please do not add “AND A GIVEAWAY” to your blog hop link.

The list is RANDOMIZED! So, when you enter your link, it will appear randomly in the list! To find it on a PC, hit Ctrl-F and type the name of your blog. You can delete your own link, too, so if you mess up, just delete it and start over!

  1. Cute vlog! You did a great job with it. :) I love your answers as well. :)

  2. haha, nice vlog…I enjoyed the surprise! And yes, you look incredibly young!! That’s a good thing though :)

  3. Great first Vlog! There are a lot of reasons I will enjoy the beginning of a book, but I agree with you about not going for flowery writing.
    My Hop

  4. Great job on the vlog! I keep telling myself I’m going to do one too, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. Anyway, I really enjoyed watching it and definitely agree with your answers!

  5. It is soooo funny that you said you look 12 but are 30! hehe

  6. For the books that I’m stashing in rooms, I read in short bursts. To keep reading them I must be able to remember where I am even if I’ve only read a couple pages or haven’t been able to read in days. Come see how I decide what to keep reading and what to stop.

  7. Wow, love the VLOG, it’s so cool to put a face to the name. Better to look 12 when you’re in your 30s than the other way round.

  8. I want to do a video entry some time. I have thought about doing it with one of the Friday memes, but not today (I’m in my PJs still).

    Girl Who Reads

  9. Thanks for the meme and the vlog! My first attempt at posting my link went awry — too many https. The second link I put up works.

  10. i really enjoyed watching your vlog :) congrats on a great job!

  11. I’m still not brave enough to do a vlog, so go for you for doing one! :)

  12. Absolutely fabulous vlog! Now I need to get one of those…what are they called?…webcams?

I don’t know why I keep reading a book. It’s not the story. It’s not the characters. I really don’t know!

I’m hopping by to tell you that I’ve got a wonderful giveaway going on at my blog, Readerbuzz. It’s international! During the Readerbuzz July Giveaway I’ll be giving away a $25 Amazon gift card! I’d love to have you stop in and throw your name in the hat to win!

  13. The linky is having some issues, it’s not loading the linked pages! =/
Here’s my direct link if anyone wants to visit my post, I’ll comment back to hop!

  14. I thought you did a great job with your vlog. You are braver than I am I still haven’t ever tried..lol. Good answer too!

  15. Great vlog! I keep thinking I should do a vlog or two, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. You have a great point – the author really needs to have a hook or two in the first few pages, as most readers will quickly lose interest without it. :)

  16. McGuffyAnn/McGuffy's Reader says:

Interesting “vlog”! Very brave & adventurous!

BTW: McGuffy’s Reader is mostly women’s literary fiction, memoir, animal/pet stories, and poetry.

    Thanks!

  17. Thanks for the Book Blog Hop!
I started reading a book the last month and it was suppose to be a very good book. But after giving it a couple of chapters I just couldn’t get into it. I put the book aside to read another day. I don’t like to do that because I feel as if my mind might have had too many distractions and I didn’t give the book a chance. So I always try to wait for another day to give it another go. I have so many other books calling to me from my to-be-read list that it can really be distracting. READ ME! READ ME!
I prefer reading and reviewing Christian Fiction but I do read a varity of other books. I just can’t handle too scary or gory. Suspense and Mysteries I like. No explicit adult books either if I do find one I really want to read I just skip over the x-rated stuff. So what genre do I read?

  18. Thanks to Joy at Edgy inspiration Romance for introducing me to this book blog hop! i have added my blog to the list, but have a few questions…do i need to add my name each weekend, or does it continue? And i only found this today, Monday, which means i lost the one day of the week i really spend time on the computer…will the list stay up during the week so i can hop? Thanks! Now i have been asked the question of what makes me put down a book…and that’s a hard one to answer. i will usually plow through a book until about a quarter way through, and if there is nothing to hold my attention by then, i’ll put it aside. I prefer Christian Fiction, Suspense in perticular, but seems that lately i have been getting historical to review, and that is okay too. would mention authors that don’t grab me, but won’t.
